The quality of the obituaries for David Foster Wallace are enough to make any good writer diligently avoid suicide.

well he didn’t exactly write his own obituary, so what do you expect – has Dave Eggars penned a eulogy for us to read yet?
also let it be known that i was going to write my OWN posting about D. Foster Wallace’s recent death, and you’ve beaten me to it. well it did happen several days ago. If I were somehow running low on books, I would not hesitate to pick up Infinite Jest and read it a SECOND time, all 1,079 pages of. It is without a doubt one of my favorite books I’ve ever read.
My favorite line from the obits so far:
“He could write the shit out of you.”

Peter Camejo recently waited 6 days after completing his autobiography before dying. That’s a real obit!
It makes me sad and fills me with an urge to write tributes with possibly awful headlines like:
Regrettably, DFW split infinitive.
I am indebted to him for many good laughs and insights and for his review (which you can find online) of Garner’s A Dictionary of Modern American Usage, a very useful book for writers.
